ABOUT EDINBURGH TRIUMPH

Two Wheels was founded in 1977 as a motorcycle parts and repair shop located on Dalkeith Road. In 1979, the business entered into motorcycle retail following the acquisition of an MZ franchise. The growth of both the sales and service aspect of the business exceeded expectations and coupled with an expanding customer base along with an experienced sales, parts and service team, the foundations were set to take on a Honda franchise.

The acquisition of the franchise in 1986 also necessitated the purchase of a larger site, close to the existing Dalkeith Road shop. It became quickly apparent that an even larger, better facility was required! A large plot of land was acquired on Peffermill Road to support the current dealer site - a large 15,000 square foot facility to house a modern, expanding motorcycle outlet with showroom, workshop facilities and a training area for new riders.

THE REBIRTH OF TRIUMPH

In October 1990, Triumph returned to the world of production motorcycles with a ground-breaking new product range manufactured from within a state-of-the-art factory facility utilising modern production techniques. Six new models were unveiled at the Cologne Show: the unfaired Trident 750 and 900 Triples, the touring Trophy 900 Triple and 1200 Four and the sports-oriented Daytona 750 Triple and 1000 Four.

On a bike trip back from the Continent, Two Wheels Co-Founder Andrew Winton picked up a motorcycle magazine and was drawn to an article announcing the rebirth of the Triumph brand. Having seen pictures of their new factory facility and its new range of motorcycles boasting modern frames, technologies and great performance – Andrew was captivated and excited by the prospect of owning and retailing Triumph bikes. Upon Triumph's appointment of Bruno Tagliaferri's (Triumph's now retired UK Sales Manager), Andrew realised that Triumph meant serious business!

Later that year, Triumph set out to recruit a global dealer network. Two Wheels jumped at the opportunity and became one of Triumph's Founder Dealers in the UK. Later, construction work commenced developing the purpose-built two-storey Triumph showroom facility that stands today. The showroom showcases the full range of Triumph motorcycles, accessories and clothing. Over 100 used bikes and a wide range of protective motorcycle clothing and helmets are also presented within the adjacent showroom building.
